About this micro-credential

This micro-credential recognises the ability to understand and apply immersive technologies in vocational education and training. It reflects competences in distinguishing between Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Mixed Reality (MR) and Extended Reality (XR), and in selecting and designing learning activities that integrate these technologies in a pedagogically meaningful and inclusive way. It also validates the capacity to apply XR in work-based learning contexts, support the development of safety, sustainability and digital skills, and ensure the responsible and sustainable integration of immersive technologies within VET systems.

Learning outcomes

  • Distinguish between Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Mixed Reality (MR) and Extended Reality (XR) and identify their main educational uses in VET
  • Select and design simple XR-supported learning activities aligned with learning objectives, learner support and inclusion principles
  • Analyse how XR is applied in European VET case studies and transfer relevant principles to their own contexts
  • Identify how XR can support safety, sustainability and digital skills development in construction and Habitat-related training
  • Recognise key principles of sustainable and responsible XR-supported learning design in VET

Competency standards

  • Foundational understanding of Extended Reality (XR) for VET: Ability to understand and critically distinguish the main concepts, functions and educational uses of Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Mixed Reality (MR) and Extended Reality (XR) in vocational education and training.
  • Pedagogical selection and design of XR-supported learning: Ability to select and design XR-supported learning activities in line with pedagogical objectives, learner needs, inclusion and feasibility criteria.
  • Application of XR in vocational and work-based learning contexts: Ability to analyse and transfer lessons from XR applications and European case studies to VET, dual VET and work-based learning environments.
  • XR for safety, sustainability and digital skills development: Ability to apply XR as a support tool for developing safety awareness, sustainability-related understanding and digital skills in construction and Habitat-related training.
  • Sustainable and responsible integration of XR in VET: Ability to integrate sustainability, circularity and responsible digital design principles into XR-supported learning pathways in VET.
