Micro-credentials
Certification Centre (MIC)

The Micro-credentials Certification Centre (MIC) is a digital service within the HABITABLE Skills Hub designed to support the certification and validation of skills in the Habitat sector.

Through the MIC, learners, professionals and organisations can obtain and create micro-credentials linked to relevant competences, training pathways and labour market needs, including those related to the green and digital transitions.

All micro-credentials are issued by the Habitat Sector Skills Certification Alliance, a European network of organisations committed to promoting skills recognition and lifelong learning in the sector.

What is the MIC?

The MIC provides a structured and transparent system to:

  • validate learning outcomes acquired through training or prior experience
  • issue micro-credentials linked to HABITABLE training programmes
  • support organisations in developing and promoting their own micro-credentials

By connecting training, assessment and certification, the MIC contributes to skills recognition, employability and professional development across the Habitat ecosystem.

Who is it for?

The MIC is designed for:

  • VET learners and professionals seeking to validate their skills
  • VET teachers and trainers supporting learning pathways
  • SMEs and companies interested in upskilling their workforce

Within the MIC, you can:

  • Explore available micro-credentials and identify those relevant to your profile
  • Complete the validation process to obtain a micro-credential
  • Create and submit your own micro-credentials, promoted by your organisation and issued by the Habitat Sector Skills Certification Alliance

How it works

The process is simple and flexible:

  1. Browse the available micro-credentials
  2. Select the one that fits your profile
  3. Review its requirements
  4. Complete the online assessment
  5. Receive your result and obtain your micro-credential

Skills and occupations

Each micro-credential is linked to relevant skills and competences and, where applicable, to ESCO occupations, helping users understand how their learning connects to real job profiles in the Habitat sector.

Recognition and value

Micro-credentials available in the MIC are issued and backed by the Habitat Sector Skills Certification Alliance, bringing together universities, VET providers, research centres and sectoral organisations across Europe.

While these micro-credentials are not formal qualifications issued by public authorities, they provide strong sectoral recognition and market relevance, reflecting real skills needs in the Habitat sector.

Whenever possible, each micro-credential also includes guidance on pathways towards formal or nationally recognised certifications, supporting users in their professional development.
